Mercedes-Benz Vans

Charleston County is unique among all American counties as the only one that can boast Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and final assembly of both automotive vehicles (Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Vans) and wide-body commercial aircraft (Boeing 787 Dreamliner). Charleston Industrial has been instrumental in attracting the supply chain players that support both OEM operations.

Düsseldorf supplier visits

Michael G. White, of Charleston Industrial, was invited by Mercedes-Benz to personally visit the Düsseldorf Campus in Germany where the Sprinter Vans are currently produced. In addition to learning a great deal about the MBV just-in-sequence manufacturing process, Mr. White visited and spoke with a number of German-owned Tier One suppliers in hopes of attracting investment to Charleston.

White relocated to Charleston, South Carolina one year prior to the announcement of the Boeing SC 787 Dreamliner final assembly campus. Mike has been hugely supportive of Boeing’s expansion across this community and has assisted a number of supplier firms calling upon his engineering and aerospace background.
